Unused identity design for The Prince: Searching for Xi Jinping, a multiple award-winning podcast from The Economist about the Chinese leader.
The episodes of the series proceed chronologically, digs into Xi’s youth; and how he rose to power. This past-present juxtaposition was reflected on the two mirroring images of Xi. I introduced a limited palette to amplify the China theme, as well as to embed the design in the core Economist “white-out-of-red” brand. The woodcut style also speaks to the past of China succinctly.
