Xiaojuan is a Chinese designer and art director, living and working in the UK. She is currently a Digital Art Director at Bloomberg. Formerly she has been a designer for The Economist.

America and the world is a series of live talks exclusively for The Economist’s subscribers, examined how America’s allies view its global leadership and how America’s presidential election next year might change their assessment. 

The brief was to design very stripped back visual identity for this event that will be used to promote it. The identity needed to be succinct, immediate and work small as an icon. With the guidance of Stephen Petch and working on the concepts with artist Ben Hickey, the identity took inspiration from The Economist newsletter identities for the illustration style and introduced brand colours that has been applied the existing America coverage.
